Vegetable Stand Dinner

I feel like the luckiest person in the world because I live in the city, with all its wonders, but still have access to farmer's markets and street corner fruit and vegetable stands.

So today, as I was finally enjoying some sun in this rain-soaked Philadelphia, I walked to a nearby coffee shop, laptop on shoulder, to have breakfast and work. I passed by a vaguely familiar picture of a smiling guy who runs a fruit and veggie stand. I have passed him numerous times on my way into the rat race, but now that I've retired my rat racing shoes, I really saw him.

Being in need of dinner ingredients, I walked over and purchased a bag full of a variety of veggies and strawberries for $9. Can't imagine paying that little in any supermarket that I know.

So my dinner tonight was a delicious veggie pasta salad and a fruit-forward white wine called Viognier with fresh strawberries in the bottom of the glass...delicious! Nothing costly, nothing way out of reach, just simple, imaginative and seasoned with gratitude.

Welcome to the Pink Feather Tree. What is a pink feather tree? It's something I thought I would never find in my entire human existence, but I googled it and lo, and behold, there is a guy out there selling pink feather trees. I need to be fair. He sells feather trees of many colors, not just pink. Apparently people buy them for unique Christmas trees or all-year round household decorations.

Why is that the name of my blog? Well, unusual images creep into my mind and one of those images was of a tree made of feathers. Feathers are a very spiritual thing to me because I always see them as falling off of angels wings while their flying around keeping me from dashing my foot on a stone, but I also wanted this blog to have a feminine essence. I am a woman, so that makes sense. I don't like stereotypes but I am pretty darn girly and I do love pink, so there goes the creation of the pink feather tree. The website will be posted below just in case this Christmas you get tired of your traditional evergreen.

So what does the pink feather tree respresent? Well, no one else had the blog name, so it was free. But it also represents an irreverant, funny, creative, odd invention, that's me. So visit often, get ready to sneeze a lot because after all, it is feathers, and enjoy the news, views, spiritual advice, pop culture, (because I also give advice to stars) and totally generous contributions from your author.
